After being confronted with the truth of who Dexter is, Deb’s come to an interesting decision. She could have turned Dexter in. She could have forgotten she saw anything and moved on with her life. But she didn’t do either of those things. She instead made Dexter move in with her so she can watch him every second to make sure he doesn’t kill anyone.

I don’t think murdering people is like doing drugs. But at least Deb is trying. Which is more than could be said for Harry.

I do appreciate that Deb is saying exactly what I’ve been saying for six seasons now. If Harry had tried more to heal Dexter instead of just assuming he was going to kill, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out the way they did.

The only trouble is, Dexter has nonkiller things to do. He needs to hunt down Lewis, for instance, and figure out why the intern messed with his credit cards and sent him the hand from the ITK case.

Turns out it’s because Lewis is a petty, petty child. He was angry that Dexter shot his video game down, and he wanted vengeance.

Vengeance, he squeaks in his prepubescent voice. Vengeance on the man who dares dislike his video game.

Sorry, but if you’re going to be in the creative field, you’ve got to take criticism better than that.

Lewis is going to be a problem, but a pretty minor one. The real problem is Maria. She’s doing exactly what I’ve worried about since Doakes died. She’s figuring out that the story doesn’t add up, and that the Bay Harbor Butcher is still around. And Maria’s smart. She’s going to have all of her facts straight before she tips her hand.

If Maria is Dex’s biggest worry right now, then Deb’s is Isaak Sirko. This would be the mob boss she doesn’t know exists yet. Dexter killed one of his guys after said guy murdered one of their detectives. Mobsters don’t take those sorts of things well.

Honestly, after the crazy religious cult killings of last season, a Russian mob storyline seems a bit flat. I guess we’ll just have to hope they have an original twist on what’s a rather old tale. I guess we’ll have to see.
