2019’s The Prodigy is a hodgepodge of stories you’ve seen before. But with competent cinematography and a short run time, you really can’t be that mad at it. You can, however, be mad at the parental figures who are in denial or grossly underestimate the situation they’re in.

Part possession movie, part creepy kid movie, the Omen-esq antagonist of The Prodigy plays his part and his marks well. There’s nothing special or especially original about this soul switching story. So go in prepared to be underwhelmed, but thankfully not barraged with jump scares; or genuine scares for that matter

With an IMDB rating of 5.9/10, and Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 43% and Audience Score of 38%, I give The Prodigy a 6.5/10. But be forewarned, most of the score comes from the final 15 minutes.
