There are wondrous things. There are magical things. There are dangerous things. We get what we deserve.
This is the mantra of the creepy cult of Tanis. And it’s been playing in the back of my head like a song I can’t get rid of ever since I listened to this podcast.
In the second half of the season, the myth of Tanis becomes personal for Nic. It becomes no longer a myth, but a reality. A reality that’s threatening to swallow Nic whole.
Consequences start coming for Nic. Sam Reynolds is kidnapped by the cult of Tanis. He and Morgan have to find a way to break him out and deprogram him. If they can.
A strange woman named Natalie takes Nic to meet a group of people called The Grackles. They’re a team of highly intelligent researchers who are investigating an area of the forest in the Pacific Northwest. They have a lot to tell Nic about the forest, and the creatures that dwell there. More, I think, than he wanted to know. Stories like a young woman lost in the woods, who ended up giving the forest a gift.
Through much of this season, I’ve noticed a strange sound in the background. It sounded like police chatter on a radio. I couldn’t figure out why they would choose to do that. What would be the point?
I found out why. It’s difficult to discuss it without giving it away. All I can say is listen carefully. I’ll also say that at some point, Alex Regan takes over the podcast.
I have my fingers crossed that the creators may answer some lingering questions from Black Tapes. There hasn’t been anything so far, but I have hope.
Many of the questions I asked through the start of the season were answered by the end. What happened to Tara Reynolds? Where is this strange person who calls herself Hyda Gurl? Where is Tanis?
The season leaves a lot of questions left, though. Questions I’m looking forward to finding out the answer to in the seasons to come.
Until then, keep looking.(5 / 5)
