This episode brought up a lot of emotions. As American Horror Story tends to do. In case you missed it last night, let’s discuss.

We start with Doris, giving birth to her son. This was a little jarring, as I hadn’t realized she was that far along. We’re treated to a horrific scene in the hospital, where Harry wrings out the bloody clothes from Doris’s delivery to drink the blood.

Things only get worse for Doris. She’s trapped in a house with people who are pretending very hard that they care about her well-being. But in the end, it’s all a lie.

After seeing Alma drinking blood from her newborn brother, Doris goes off the deep end a little. She tries to run away with the baby, only to be turned back to the house by what are being called the Pill People. I’d call them thralls, personally.

Alma is pushing hard for her mother to take one of the black pills. She’s a manipulative child, telling her mother that she could be great. That they can be a family like they used to.

But that’s all a lie. Alma says over and over that they don’t need her anymore.

This feeds into a basic fear. We worry that the people in our lives only love us and value us because we do something for them. That if we’re not part of a working family unit, then they don’t want us around. This becomes true for poor Doris, who deserved so much better.

Of course, this is only part of the story. TB Karen is sitting on the beach, painting when she’s approached by Belle. She wants Karen to get Harry and Doris’s baby for her.

Karen doesn’t want to do that. She wants to save the baby instead. She tries to get Micky to help her. But Micky has other plans. He’s been in Hollywood, working on his new Speed Racer show. And he wants Karen to come with him. He loves her, and he wants her to be like him.

But that’s the last thing she wants. And she’ll do anything to prevent that from happening.

That’s it for this time, killer queens. I think there’s just one more episode left in part one. I’m excited to see how this story is going to play out.
