There have been a number of hints dropped by Shudder that The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs will return this October in some form.

Darcy the Mail Girl

Darcy is always a fun follow on Twitter, and she has been quite active in talking The Last Drive-In with fans of the show. Her account is also super not work safe, so be careful where you are browsing. It’s always a treat though, especially on #mirrormonday.

In a recent retweet, however, she seemed to confirm a rumor of someone unaffiliated with Shudder. The source comes from Twitter user, and horror hound, @ShutUpJoshLami.

So, based on Darcy’s comment, fans of Joe Bob Briggs might want to keep October 25th open for a marathon of some form.

Marathon… or Season Two?

Whether the October 25th surprise, if that does happen, is a short marathon, or the launch of season two is in question. The Last Drive-In has had an unusual life on Shudder as there was the original marathon, followed up by two smaller ones. Most recently there was the first season, which we covered via recaps here on Haunted MTL.

Production of a second season may be difficult as Joe Bob Briggs is currently on tour. His show, How Rednecks Saved Hollywood, has dominated most of his summer schedule. This is also factoring in convention appearances. Joe Bob is a very, very busy man. With this in mind, the next take on The Last Drive-In may very well end up being a single-night marathon set to a theme.

Perhaps Joe Bob Briggs will spend the night with Michael Myers?

As of September 30th, Shudder has the rights to three of the Halloween films: John Carpenter’s classic, Halloween, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. If Shudder adds any Halloween films to its monthly release schedule in the next week then odds are Michael Myers might be our guest of honor.

As for what Halloween might show up as the fourth film for a marathon, odds are it might be Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. The film is widely received as a misstep in the franchise.

Plus, Joe Bob has a lot to say about it…
